I am a Plane geek …….. there I admit it

I am a Plane geek …….. there I admit it

I am a plane spotter…..   There I have now admitted it and its all in the open … but to be fair it kinda   made taking on a job during the xmas hoildays a little bit easier …

The assignment was to cover the Landing of Boeings new 787-9 that is over this side of the world  doing tests etc before coming into service with Air New Zealand who will be the first airline in the world to use this type .
its made of carbon fibre ,is quite as a mouse  and if you have a spare 200 Million you could have one two….. if you are happy to wait four years till your name comes up on the list

the assignment was to shoot the plane landing for the first time and then the next day was to do some walk around shots all pretty simple  until the plane gets delayed and would not be landing until 6 mins after sunset … still it could be worse  I have a new toy a Canon 1DC Canons top of the range DSLR and  what better way to see if the camera is up to it than a plane landing at 200 km a hour in darkness … with a 500 mm f4 at 3000 iso
in all it worked pretty very well.  loving the high iso of the camera and the video footage from the 1DC is outstanding still getting to grips with it but so far Im very impressed and seems to work well , focus speed is great
as for the Boeing  its amazing aircraft  made great pictures and thanks to the airnz team we had great access and managed to file a good number of images for my client .
has been a strange start to the year with in a week I have shoot a super yacht, a Boeing , a farm milking system , and later in the week a pro boxer , never a dull moment in the in the life of a freelance photographer ….
