” I’m in Shipping there not much for you to photograph” words that would put fear in any photographer , I had a assignment from Marc Backwell from Idealog magazine , the job was to shot Dave Robertson from Freight on board a company that Freight Management company ¬†as he puts it there not much to photograph as we sorts out stuff to get from point A to Point B ,.

after a bit of a chat on the phone we though we would go and shoot at a container park ( as alot of Daves work is with shipping containers ) my idea was to shoot with a back ground of a stack of Containers but as murphy’s law , the yard was almost empty as a large shipment had just been trucked to the wharf ready for shipping .

so plan B   we  saw a empty container  and set up there .

to start with ( first pic ) it looked a bit flat  so I set up a  canon 550 flash  hocked up to a pocket wizard ( a remote transmitter ) at the back of the container to give a bit of depth to the picture  worked ok  but it really needed a bit of warmth to the picture , so I added a warming gel (cto)  to the flash which worked at lot better , and was the one the Mag ran .
